Apollo RCA integrated with Six-Sigma

Apollo Root Cause Analysis™ (ARCA™) and Six-Sigma™ are currently popular and widely utilized continuous improvement methodologies for solving complex problems across a wide range of industries. The objective of both is to deliver high performance, reliability, and value to the customer.  Both can be applied proactively and reactively to any type of issue or opportunity.  This series of posts provides an inside view of Apollo RCA™ and Six-Sigma™; it clearly defines both methodologies and highlights their strengths, benefits, similarities and differences and how you can further enhance the benefits obtained when both methods are used in concert.

Apollo RCA™ and Six-Sigma™ are not competing methodologies.  From a process perspective, both methodologies can be implemented as stand-alone, but Apollo RCA™ provides a needed boost to, and is a must-have addition to the Six-Sigma™ tool set.  Apollo RCA™ augments the Analyze and Improve phase of Six-Sigma™ when used as an alternative to the “5 Why’s”, “Brainstorming”, “Fishbone” and “FMEA”.  It combines the visual aspect of a Fishbone diagram with the structured detail of an FMEA.  If your organization has already implemented or is using Six-Sigma™, Apollo RCA™ is the key in defining the relationships “Y=f(X)”, between dependent and independent critical to quality product and process features.  These are known as transfer functions and they are the key to continuous improvement and problem solving.

The question this series of articles is answering:  “Should your Organization or Project Leader implement or apply Apollo RCA™ or Six-Sigma™?”  Please explore following posts in hopes of better evaluating the most appropriate solution for your organization.  When use of Six-Sigma™ is utilized, you may discover a tremendous opportunity to further enhance the effectiveness of your Six-Sigma™ program by integrating it with Apollo RCA™.
